Kahoot
Kahoot is a is a game-based learning platform that allows for anyone to create their own type of quiz. It is a great example of formative assessments and can be used to see what your students are understanding and what they need to work on. As the teacher, you can make the quiz on any subject and come up with the questions and answers. Also, the teacher is able to see what students got what questions right and be able to know who is struggling on the material.
I used my kahoot quiz to make a online version for my teacher about grammar. She said that her students need to work on grammar so I asked a variety of questions involving things that they need practice with.
Process:
1.Created a free account for Kahoot
2.Decided on the topic of grammar
3.Chose example sentences and topics
4.Wrote different questions and chose the correct answer and made up false as well
5.Practiced the Kahoot on my own to see if it was reasonable and correct
6.Sent to my Co-op
Linked to Domain:
The kahoot website is linked to the Domain 1F. Designing student assessment because this is a great way for teachers to create an assessment for the students other than a normal test. This will get students more involved and interested in testing while the teacher will receive the same results. Teachers can still ask the same questions as before and they are using the website to assess the students on what they know. This is a great a tool for teachers and is a great way to design an assessment for the children.
What did I enjoy about creating this artifact?:
I enjoyed that I could as a student teacher be able to ask any questions that I wanted to for the students and insert any answers as well. I think it was very easy to use and would be a fun way to assess my students on what we are learning.
How does this relate to other courses?:
In my Foundations of Teaching course, I am learning about different types of assessments. Formative assessments are when the students are not graded but are involved in some type of questioning. This is a great example of formative assessment and reminded me about what we were learning.
How can I use this in my future classroom?:
I can use this tool in my future classroom by quizzing my students on the material in class. I am teaching English and math hopefully in the future and can use this for both subjects. I can also do the kahoot quiz before the lesson and then after the lesson to show my students the improvement they made.
